Glad Oskar is doing well. Hopefully he gets fully healthy, total bonus if he can play again. |

For sure. Its a small miracle he was able to keep his arms and legs (depending on where the cancer was located. )

Bill Meltzer: Quick Hits: Lindblom Update, Vigneault, Ghost, Cup 1, TIFH - bmeltzer
I watched the broadcast last night. I saw it live - I was 9 years old. I have the DVD and have watched it many times. Still, I actually got chills when the audio of the final 10 or so seconds of the game switches to Gene Hart's call. The absolute thrill and joy in his voice combined with the chaos on the ice is simply amazing. |

I was negative 2. So you are lucky to have seen it. I hope to see one that isn't on DVD in the next couple years. I loved seeing the Phillies win it in 08 and the Eagles in it a couple years ago. But hockey has always been my #1 so I can't imagine what I'll be like it when the day hopefully comes that I see G lifting the Cup over his head. |

You know, I really REALLY thought Richards would get us one. I could even visualize it in my mind. I just want 1 before I die and the bucket list is complete.
Missed the Phils parade because it was my best friend's dad's funeral. Missed the Eagles one because my wife was overdue with our son. It would take an act of God to make me miss a Flyers Cup parade. |

Embarassing to see Bill Barber flopping for penalty calls. Terrible actor, at least Recchi SOLD IT. |

The switch to Gene Hart was awesome. We’re the same age and I’ll never forget watching it that day and the city losing its mind with joy!! |

I thought it would be Richards too! He had won at every level he played etc. Of course, Flyers luck, he does win it, but with another team.
I'll say this, I assume you're in your 30's and I'm in my 40's. If they don't win in in our lifetime, that would REALLY suck. lol |

Good luck to Oskar and all the medical staff in his corner. Keep up the great work!
I watched the game last night and I still cringe at watching guys play without a helmet. Also laughed at the little scrum between Orr and Clarke. Seeing Orr throw his mitts at him was hilarious.
Crazy that my parents were newlyweds when they won their first. Been too darn long. |

That was very cool to see many of the players I remember from my earliest days (First real memories of mine are from the next year's series vs Buffalo). That was a great touch to switch to the home town call at the end. The Spectrum was rocking. Lol, I remember noticing at one point during the game how low the glass was on the side boards, the top seemed to be only about head high to the players. Then after the game I was like, "How'd all the fans get on the ice?..." That was pretty damn cool.
I raised a toast to my grandma at the end, she was the biggest Flyers fan there ever was. |

Bill, to me the best part of the broadcast of the win over the Bruins was hearing Gene Hart's call in the final seconds. It still brings chills and makes me tear up. I was 18 years old in 1974 and remember it like yesterday. Although we've been very fortunate as Philly sports fans to have the great play-by-play broadcasters we've had, Gene Hart was not only one of the greatest ever, but he also taught hockey to the entire Delaware Valley. |

Great memories seeing clips of the game. I was 2 and 3 when we won last but I had the portrait of the entire team in my room. I knew all the names and I think I knew their numbers too.
The thing that gets me is the shot of the old Spectrum scoreboard. |
